The Back to Work Network helps hard-to-serve, disenfranchised adults attain the job search skills necessary to find viable employment in our community. The Back to Work Network provides clients a 1-2 day conference covering job search techniques and dress-for-success wardrobe assistance, preparing women and men to engage in a successful employment search. This conference provides information about various education and training opportunities available in Alaska, covering both traditional and non-traditional employment.
We assist our clients in developing a quality resume and cover letter to use in their job search, and provide training with professionals from employment agencies in developing interviewing skills. They are given the tools necessary to conduct a successful search through utilization of the newspaper, employment agencies and online advertising to find positions which match their skills. The workshop also has volunteers available to cut and style attendees' hair and assist with make-up techniques, to enable the client to present themselves in a professional manner.
The Back to Work Network workshops are open to all individuals, especially those disenfranchised women who fall through the cracks and are missed by other programs. We reach out to all programs listed in the Safe City handbook, halfway house programs, homeless shelters and unwed mother programs.
I have attached a list of the needs of our program and hope that you will assist us in our efforts to get all Alaskans into the workplace. If you would like more information about our program or would like to donate, please contact me.
